Massachusetts pitcher Kelli Arnold has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 17-23.

Arnold, a sophomore from Kalama, Wash., led the Minutewomen to a 3-0 record and the championship of the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Ga. Kelli pitched a complete game and picked up a save en route to being named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.

Against then-No. 20 Pacific, Arnold pitched 2/3 of an inning, striking out both batters she faced to preserve a 6-3 UMass win. Later in the tournament, Arnold pitched a complete game as the Minutewomen upset then 11th-ranked Florida State 2-1.

Against the high-powered Seminole lineup, Arnold scattered four hits - only one of which left the infield - and gave up one earned run while striking out four.

On the season, Arnold is 2-1 with a 2.03 ERA. The Minutewomen climbed seven spots in the latest USA Today/NFCA Top 25 to No. 18. UMass has the week off before its next competition in the Speedline Invitational March 6-9.
