Monica Garza of Tarleton State has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II National Player of the Week for the week of April 7-13.

Garza, a junior outfielder from McAllen, Texas, led the TexAnns to a four game sweep of Eastern New Mexico last week.

At the plate, she went 10-for-15 (.667) with four home runs, including a game winning long ball in the ninth inning of the final game. She had eight RBI on the weekend as No. 23 Tarleton State moved into a tie with second ranked Angelo State atop the Lone Star Conference South Division.

On the season, Garza leads the TexAnns with a .381 batting average, 51 hits, 15 doubles and seven home runs. Tarleton State sports a 31-16 overall record, and is 12-4 in conference play.
