Lindsey Kight of Arkansas-Monticello has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II National Player of the Week for the week of March 31-April 6.
Kight, a junior pitcher from Raymond, Miss., went 5-1 last week, and only gave up one earned run in 39 2/3 innings pitched. She struck out 62 batters, reaching double-digits in strikeouts in five of her six games. Kight tossed a seven-inning perfect game against Valdosta State. The junior threw just 63 pitches against the Flames. She pitched all four games in the GSC crossover tournament, losing only to nationally-ranked West Florida. Against Lincoln Memorial, Kight struck out 13 batters and walked one as she gave up two hits in a 1-0 victory for UAM. Kight has etched her name into the GSC record book, ranking first in consecutive wins (19), strikeout ratio (11.16) and perfect games (4). On the season, she is 19-2 with a 0.39 ERA. The Blossoms are 31-5 overall, and stand second in the GSC East with a 13-3 conference mark.UAM received votes in the latest NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll.
