North Dakota State catcher Shelly Rhein is the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II Player of the Week for the week of April 23-29. This marks the second time this year Rhein has won the award and the fourth week the award has gone to a North Dakota State player.
Rhein, a senior from Oakdale, Minn., hit .536 with five home runs, four doubles and 20 runs batted in to lead North Dakota State to a 9-0 record during the week. Her slugging percentage was 1.214. Rhein hit safely in all nine games during the week, including five multi-hit games. Rhein also had a pair of four-RBI performances as she scored a run and drove in a run in each of NDSU’s nine games. North Dakota State is ranked No. 1 in the NFCA Division II Top 25.
