SUNY Cortland pitcher Lara Almansberger has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III Player of the Week for the week of April 13-19.

Almansberger pitched back-to-back no-hitters as part of a stretch of four consecutive shutouts during the week. On Wednesday, she pitched a perfect game at New Paltz, retiring all 15 batters she faced and struck out six in Cortland's 9-0, five-inning win. The following day, she threw another no-hitter in a 4-0 win at SUNY Institute of Technology. She allowed only one baserunner (due to an error with two outs in the fourth).

Almansberger currently has a string of 26.1 consecutive scoreless innings pitched. She threw a two-hit shutout with five strikeouts in a 1-0 win over SUNY Brockport on Tuesday. She finished the week with a three-hit shutout in an 8-0, six-inning win over St. Lawrence on Saturday. Almansberger started the week last Sunday with a no-decision over Potsdam, giving up just one earned run and striking out five in 4.1 innings.

For the week, she allowed 11 hits and five walks and struck out 21 in 29.1 innings. She is 8-0 this spring for the nationally fourth-ranked Red Dragons.
