Columbia, MO -- Springfield College pitcher Nan Duga is the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III Player of the Week for the week of April 16-22.
Duga, a senior from Ilion, New York, continued her assault on the Springfield record books last week, breaking single-season school records in wins (20) and strikeouts (192). Already the Pride's career leader in strikeouts (722 to date), she has compiled a 24-6 record with 228 strikeouts and a 0.65 ERA this season. Last week, Duga totaled 47 strikeouts in 49 innings while throwing a no-hitter, a one-hitter and a two-hitter in eight appearances. In a doubleheader sweep of New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opponent Smith College on April 20, Duga struck out 10 while allowing one hit in the first game, and threw a no-hitter, striking out four in the second game. She also went 2-for-3 with three runs scored, a double and a walk in the first game. Duga struck out nine while going 2-for-4 with a run scored and a double in the Pride's 5-4 win over conference rival Clark on April 19.
