STARKVILLE, Miss. – Junior third baseman Chelsea Bemis of Louisville has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I National Player of the Week for games played between April 19 and April 25.

Bemis went 11-for-15 over five Big East wins for the Cardinals last week with eight runs, 13 RBIs, a double, a triple, a stolen base and six home runs. She ended the week with a .733 batting average, a 2.000 slugging percentage and a .778 on base percentage.

The San Diego, Calif., native hit a home run in every game but one last week, however she made up for it by going yard three times in the first game of a doubleheader against St. John’s (NY), tying a school record in the process. Bemis posted at least one hit, one run and one RBI in each of her five games last week, in addition to posting three multi-hit games and four multi-RBI games.

The Cardinals will head into the penultimate weekend of the season with a 32-15 overall record and an 11-5 record in league play. With just six games left in the season, Louisville currently sits in third place in the Big East, three games behind league leaders and 25th-ranked Notre Dame.
