LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The MaxPreps/NFCA High School Player of the Week for October 22 is senior Cassidy Smith of Loveland High School in Loveland, Colo.
The pitcher/shortstop starred for the 22-2 Indians at both the plate and from the circle during Loveland’s perfect 4-0 week. Smith hit a robust .467 (7-for-15) overall with five runs scored, a double, three HR’s and nine RBIs, while also posting a 4-0 pitching mark with a 1.07 ERA and seven strikeouts in 26 innings of work.
During a 13-1 (5 inn.) rout of Cherokee Trail (CO) on Oct. 19, she was 2-for-4 with a pair of tallies, two HR’s and five RBIs and also fired a one-hitter with three K’s. She blasted her seventh HR of the campaign on Oct. 20 during a 3-1 triumph over Dakota Ridge (CO) while permitting no earned runs over a complete-game, four-hitter.
For the season Smith owns a .418 batting average with seven doubles, seven HR’s and 34 RBIs and possesses a stellar 22-2 pitching record with a 1.35 ERA and 93 strikeouts over 145 frames.

The MaxPreps/NFCA High School Players of the Week will be announced on NFCA.org every Monday during the spring season, with one representative chosen from each of five separate high school regions. During the fall campaign, just a single player will be selected representing all participating regions.
