STARKVILLE, Miss. - The coaching staff at LSU-Euncie took home the top hardware Monday afternoon. Head coach Andy Lee and assistant coach Brandi Alonzo were named the 2011 NFCA NJCAA Division II National Coaching Staff of the Year, the Association announced Monday.

In only its seventh season of softball competition, LSU-Eunice was able to win the school's first softball national championship. The Bengals finished with a 58-10 overall record. LSU-Eunice won the Region XXIII championship on the way to dominating the competition in the national championship tournament.

Prior to winning the national award, the LSU-Eunice staff also won the South Region Coaching Staff of the Year.

Other regional coaching staff of the year honors included head coach Brian Dewey and assistant coach Ron Bretz at Mercy Hurst North East in the East Region and head coach Joe Yegge and assistant coaches Bre Mines and Nikki Price at Kirkwood Community College in the Midwest Region.
