ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Fourth-ranked Metro State used a pair of home runs to top No. 1 North Georgia, 4-1, on Saturday to move to the semifinals of the 2010 NCAA Division II Championship at Heritage Park in St. Joseph.

North Georgia was first on the board in the game when senior Leslee Smith singled down the left field line to drive in senior Courtney McGuire.

However, the Saints did not hold onto the lead very long as Metro answered in the bottom of the frame with a double from Jennessa Tesone that allowed junior Amber Roundtree to score.

Each of the Roadrunners (53-5) next three runs were scored by way of the long ball with a solo shot from senior Tara Mickelson in the fourth and a two-run bomb from Tesone in the sixth.

North Georgia was unable capitalize on base runners in the third, fourth, sixth and seventh innings, thus ending thier season at 51-2.

Senior Christie Robinson picked up her second win of the day in the game by allowing just one run off of 10 hits with two strikeouts to improve to 30-3 on the year.

Meanwhile, North Georgia's Sarah Phillips took just her second loss of the year by giving up four runs off of five hits, while striking out nine batters.

Metro State will return to action on Sunday when they meet No. 3 Hawaii Pacific in the second semi-final of the day at 2:30 p.m. CDT. A Metro State win would force the same two teams into action in an elimination game later that evening at 7:30 p.m. CDT.
