One day after guiding Arizona to a runner-up finish at the Women's College World Series, Wildcat head coach Mike Candrea was named head coach of the 2004 U.S. Olympic Softball Team, it was announced Tuesday by USA Softball. Candrea will also serve as head coach of the U.S. National Team at the 2002 World Championship and the 2003 Pan American Games.
Candrea has compiled a 926-184 record in 17 seasons at Arizona. He has led the Wildcats to the Women's College World Series in each of the last 15 years, winning six national championships. Monday's contest against California marked Arizona's 10th appearance in the championship game under Candrea. For more information, go to USA Softball.
