LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Hannah Mills’ bat was on fire this past week, as the Parksley, Va., native went 10-for-13 (.769) at the plate, en route to Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III Player of the Week honors, while helping (tied) No. 9 Salisbury University to four wins by a total margin of 51-7.
The senior shortstop and current Capital Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week was responsible for 16 of the Sea Gulls’ 51 runs as she touched home plate six times and smacked in 10 RBI during the four-game performance. Of her 10 hits, eight were of the extra-base variety with five doubles, one triple and two home runs. She also drew three walks and struck out just once. The first of her two big flies was a three-run home run that sparked a 12-2 victory over then No. 21-ranked Christopher Newport. Against the Captains, Mills batted 7-for-8 with a 2.000 slugging percentage.
She also performed well in the field, recording zero errors, five assists and two putouts from the shortstop position.
Up next for Mills and the Sea Gulls are back-to-back double headers with one slated for Sat., April 6, against Mary Washington and the other scheduled for Sun., April 7, versus Washington College.
