LOUISVILLE, Ky.- It was another tough week for several of the top teams, as both Pioneer (San Jose, Calif.) and La Grange (Texas) suffered losses in their respective state playoffs.

The Diablos of Mission Viejo (Calif.) put their perfect season on the line as they face No. 3 Yucaipa (Calif.) this Friday in the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section state finals.  Two of Yucaipa’s three losses this season were to Mission Viejo.   One run decided each of those prior meetings.

Losses by top teams made way for McCracken County (Paducah, Ky.) and Parkland (Allentown, Pa.) to make significant climbs up the poll.  Parkland captured the District Championship and has won 10 straight since it suffered a nine-inning defeat to North Penn (Lansdale, Pa.) on April 24.  For McCracken, the Kentucky state tournament begins today.

The final USA Today Sports/NFCA High School Super 25 of the season will be released on Thursday, June 11.

State rankings submitted by NFCA member coaches are used to help compile the USA Today Sports/NFCA High School Super 25.  Records for this week’s poll include all games played through June 1.
