Missouri-Rolla junior second baseman Kandi Wieberg has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II Player of the Week for the week ending Apr. 8, the association announced Wednesday.

Wieberg hit .632 (12-for-19) over six games with three doubles, a triple, two home runs, five RBIs and eight runs scored.

She started the scoring in Rolla’s opening game win over then-No. 7 Lewis, who had a 20-game win streak snapped, with a grand slam. Over the doubleheader sweep, she went 3-for-4 at the plate with six doubles, a home run, four RBIs and three runs scored.

In the twin bill sweep, the St. Elizabeth, Mo., native reached base in all seven plate appearances, scoring the eventual winning run in the fifth inning of game two.

The following day she reached base five times in a pair of victories over Wisconsin-Parkside. She guided Missouri-Rolla to a come-from-behind victory in the opener as she singled to ignite a four-run seventh inning. She closed the two-game set with a home run that extended a one-run advantage to its final 6-4 margin.

Currently on a 13-game hit streak, Wieberg started the week by going 4-for-7 with six doubles and a triple in a split with Missouri, St. Louis.
