Muskingum's Erica Hoyt has been named the NFCA/Louisville Slugger Division III National Player of the Week for the week of Apr. 19-25. Hoyt is the second member of the Fighting Muskies to earn the honor this season. Shauna Jellison earned the honor the week of March 22-29.
Hoyt went 5-0 in six starts on the week, allowing no runs and just three hits while striking out 34.
She broke the Ohio Athletic Conference single-season strikeout mark with her 206th strikeout of the 2004 campaign in a game against Washington & Jefferson.
Hoyt, who has 216 strikeouts currently on the season struck out 11 and allowed just one hit in the win over Washington & Jefferson. She followed that with four innings of hitless work against Heidelberg College and three innings of one-hit ball in the second game of the doubleheader.
Hoyt ended the conference slate with a perfect 18-0 mark. On the year she is 32-2 with a 0.68 ERA.
