St. Thomas pitcher Janet Nagle has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III Player of the Week for the week of Mar. 20-26, the association announced Wednesday. Nagle has helped lead the Tommies to a 15-1 start as St. Thomas keeps a strong hold on the No. 1 position in the NFCA Division III Top 25 Poll.
The senior from Minnetonka, Minn., led the Tommies at the plate as well, as St. Thomas closed out a 9-1 trip to the Sun West Tournament with a 6-0 mark on the week.
Nagle won her 27th consecutive pitching decision with a two-hit shutout over Whitworth March 23. She moved to 67-5 on her career, and her .930 winning percentage currently ranks first in Division III history. The lefty all-American struck out 16 with no walks versus Whitworth. Her 8-0 season record includes wins over six ranked teams.
Nagle now has 545 career strikeouts (in 450 innings) to rank first in conference history and 27th on the NCAA D-III career chart. She also ranks 18th in D-III career strikeout-to-innings ratio.
She also homered twice in six games including a three-run homer to beat Division II Cal State East Bay, 6-3. On the season, she's batting .405 with 17 hits and 14 RBIs in 16 games.
