All 16 spots are now filled for the NAIA National Softball Tournament, which gets underway Friday at Decatur, Ala. Shawnee State defeated Geneva Saturday to win the final regional berth. Simon Fraser, which was eliminated in the semifinal round in Region I, received the lone at-large bid.

Both nationally No. 1 Oklahoma City and No. 2 Union (Tenn.) won their respective regions, although both teams had to take the long way to get there. In Region VI, defending national champion Oklahoma City had to win four consecutive games after getting upset by No. 4 seed Oklahoma Christian in the first round. In Region XI, Union fell to No. 3 Athens State in the second round, then won three in a row - including back-to-back wins over Athens State - to win the regional championship.

The biggest shocker came in Region I, where top-seeded and nationally No. 3-ranked Simon Fraser was eliminated by No. 2 seed Oregon Tech in the loser's bracket final. No. 3 Concordia defeated Oregon Tech 7-2 to advance to the national finals.

The national championship is a 16-team, double-elimination tournament.
