LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association and CEO Carol Bruggeman issued the following statement regarding the formation of the NCAA Division I Softball Oversight Committee, viewing it as a major step forward for the sport.

“Collectively, our softball community feels like a team that has arrived in Oklahoma City for the WCWS.  The anticipation and excitement surrounding the implementation of the new NCAA governance structure, and specifically, the NCAA Division I Softball Oversight Committee, is palpable. We are ready to play.

The 18-member Division I Softball Oversight Committee and the new legislative process create a path for focused efforts and action that will improve the softball experience, support our coaches and student-athletes, and promote our sport. With every committee member 100% dedicated to the sport of softball, the pace at which change can occur will be more efficient and effective. Most important, the voice of our softball coaches will be amplified with the NFCA seat on the Committee. We are so appreciative of this opportunity and we promise thoughtful, well-researched proposals and productive, insightful dialogue.

The softball community prides itself on collaboration – this team approach is one of the main reasons our sport continues to thrive.  We look forward to continuing and expanding collaborative efforts within our Association and with the NCAA Division I Softball Oversight Committee to set our sport on a course for unprecedented success." – Carol Bruggeman, NFCA CEO
