Top-ranked East Texas Baptist placed four players on the All-West region first team as the 2004 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III All-Region teams were announced Thursday by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. 

Allison Ratcliff, the nation’s leader in home runs, leads the Tiger contingent on the first team that includes Angela Gonzales, Christy Shipley and Tonya Minor. 

Second-ranked Salisbury put two players, Lacey Lister and Rosie Aley on the Atlantic region’s first team, while Lynchburg placed Jennifer Overstreet, Laura Gondor, Lauren Lancaster and Caroline Cubbage on the squad. 

Eighth-ranked Muskingum, led by national wins leader Erica Hoyt, put four players on the All-Central first squad. Hoyt, Shauna Jellison, April Rader and Nicole Blubaugh all earned first-team accolades, while third-ranked Alma put Erin Carson, Lindsay Powers and Leigh Ann LaFave on the region’s first team. 

Moravian, who rates seventh in the country, landed four players on the East region squad. Heather Bortz, who recently had an all-division record 44-game hit streak snapped, earned a spot on the first team along with fellow Greyhounds Meagan Hennessy, Janelle Brey and Melissa Soroka. Stacey Preambo, who rates second in the country behind Ratcliff in home runs, was one of four players on the first team for King’s College. 

Maryville – St. Louis, and 10th-ranked Washington (Mo.) joined fourth-ranked St. Thomas (Minn.) with three players each on the All-Midwest first team. The Tommies recently tied the NCAA Division III win streak record with 34-consecutive victories. 

Southern Maine and 12th-ranked Wheaton each put three players on the All-New England first team, while Ithaca and Cortland State paced the Northeast region’s first-team selections with four and three, respectively. 

The Great Lakes region first team featured a duo of players each from Illinois Wesleyan, Wisconsin-Stout and Marian. University of Chicago pitcher Hannah Roberts, the nation’s ERA leader, also landed first-team laurels.
