STARKVILLE, Miss - Five teams had four student-athletes named to the first teams in one of three regions, when the NFCA announced its 2010 NJCAA Division I Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Region selections on Thursday.
Navarro, Yavapai, Salt Lake, 2010 National Championship runners-up Wallace State and 2010 NJCAA Division I National Champions Miami-Dade each had four student-athletes earn all-region honors this season, while Yavapai, Salt Lake, Wallace State and Miami-Dade each added a fifth selection on the second team.
2010 Championship Tournament Most Valuable Player Erika Bennett helped lead the Sharks to their first-ever national title by going 19-1 on the year with a 0.46 ERA and 184 strikeouts.
The 2010 Louisville Slugger/NFCA NJCAA Division I All-Region teams are comprised of two teams of 16 players each from each of the three NFCA regions. This year, 96 total student-athletes from 41 different member institutions earned all-region status.
All first-team all-region selections are now eligible to be named to one of three All-American teams. The 2010 Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-American teams will be announced on Wednesday, June 9 on NFCA.org.
