2007 Louisville Slugger/NFCA NJCAA Division I All-America Teams
National champion Chipola and Pima each had five players receive all-America accolades as the 2007 Louisville Slugger/NFCA NJCAA Division I All-America Teams were announced Wednesday.
Pima paced the first team selections, joining Manatee with two selections each. Chipola had one first team selection in pitcher Brittany Minton, but snagged four second team accolades. Catcher Alyssa Shirey garnered the catcher’s spot on the second team, while Sara Lovestrand landed one of the infield positions. Martina Landrum earned outfield accolades, joining designated player/utility selection Cassie Lassiter on the second team.
Pima catcher Amanda Duran garnered first team honors for the second straight season along with Diamond Sports Catcher of the Year. Infielder Kelly Nielson joined her on the first team, while pitcher Dana Alcocer landed on the second team and infielder Monica Llanez and outfielder Jessica McNamara on the third team.
Manatee put pitcher Catherine McDaniel on the first team along with outfielder Tiffinee Harvey for the school’s lone selections. Odessa outfielder Breana Casaus earned the adidas Golden Shoe Award after a stellar campaign in which she stole 81 of 88 bases on the year.
