STARKVILLE, Miss. -- The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has named its five regional winners for the Speedline Coaching Staff of the Year Honors. Belleville East High School (Belleville, Ill.) is the North region winner. Head coach Rita Menke led BEHS to its third Class AA championship, finishing 34-6 on the season.
The South region winner is Chamberlain High School (Tampa, Fla.). Head coach Bob Diez led the Chiefs to a 28-5 record and the state championship in the Florida Class 5A ranks.
Head coach Jeff Horohonich and his Immaculate Heart Academy (Washington Township, N.J.) staff are the honorees in the East Region. IHA won the Class A title among New Jersey Parochial Schools.
Texas 5A champion Keller High School (Keller, Texas), led by Maureen Fritz is the South Central regional winner. Coach Fritz led Keller to a 31-5 record and a No. 3 finish in the final USA Today/NFCA High School Top 25.
California overall champion Pacifica High School (Garden Grove, Calif.) and head coach Rob Weil claimed regional accolades in the West. Weil led Pacifica to a 31-2 record and a No. 2 ranking in the final USA Today/NFCA High School Top 25.
The five regional winners are now eligible for the Speedline National High School Coaching Staff of the Year Award, to be named in early November.
