LAS VEGAS (Dec. 11) – The 2021 NFCA Convention is a wrap! On the final day, members refilled and left inspired as they were celebrated for their accomplishments on and off the field, absorbed three more Drills, Drills, Drills sessions and participated in the brand-new educational tracks.

Drills, Drills, Drills opened with Missouri Western head coach Joe Yegge on hitting, Ohio State associate head coach Jen McIntyre on outfield defense and North Texas assistant coach Jamie Allred talked pitching.

Following this second drills session, the membership recognized their peers, while enjoying a hearty breakfast at the Awards Brunch. Coaches earned Victory Club milestones, which included the NJCAA’s active winningest coach and recent Hall of Famer Heinz Mueller, who reached the 1,400-win plateau in 2020. 

Additionally, each 2021 National Coaching Staff of the Year winner addressed their peers, along with Humanitarian Award recipient Kent Chambers of Bob Jones High School who stressed leaving things better than you had them for your your players. 

The brunch closed out with a heartfelt and moving acceptance from Stacey Lumley, the wife of the late Mark Lumley, who was honored posthumously as the 2021 Donna Newberry “Perseverance” award honoree. She touched on how she wanted to spend the rest of her life the way her husband did and “Live Like Lum.”

The Convention concluded with the education tracks, a specialty program broken into three 45-minute sessions for Head Coaches (presented by FieldTurf), Assistant Coaches and Instructors. Attendees followed one track or mixed and matched the three to fit their educational needs. 

The NFCA Convention will return in 2022, Dec. 7-10 in San Antonio, Texas.
