STARKVILLE, Miss. – The NFCA Diversity Committee set a goal this past December at the NFCA Convention in Las Vegas to make strides towards creating an inclusive fastpitch environment. The vision was to create a program within the NFCA that would promote the sport of fastpitch and provide an opportunity for children who might otherwise not have the chance to play. With this in mind, the committee has created the NFCA's "Fastpitch For Everyone" program.
The goal of the Fastpitch For Everyone program is to provide children ages 7-13, the opportunity to experience the game of fastpitch while being coached by college and travel ball coaches at a free one-day clinic.
With great enthusiasm, the committee announces that this goal has been achieved, and the NFCA will sponsor the 1st annual "Fastpitch for Everyone" clinic on Monday, June 4, 2012. The inaugural clinic will be held in Garfield, N.J., and will introduce the game of fastpitch through the fundamentals of hitting, defense and baserunning. At present over 130 young athletes ages 7-13 have signed up to participate. NFCA member college and travel ball coaches from New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Texas will serve as coaches and mentors.
If you are interested in hosting or sponsoring a future clinic, or would like more information about the program, please send an email to the Diversity Committee chair.
