NFCA/MAx Preps HS Player of the WeekSTARKVILLE, Miss. – Senior Kasia Smith of Estrella Foothills High School in Goodyear, Ariz., and juniors Rachel Conrad of Donovan High School in Donovan, Ill., Holly McKinnon of North Marion High School in Citra, Fla. and Kelsee Selman of Hudson High School in Lufkin, Texas, have all been named as the High School Players of the Week for their respective regions by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for games played through March 17, 2012.

Representing the West Region, Smith pitched her first career perfect game against Gila Bend, and followed up that performance with a 2 hit shutout against Desert Edge.  On the week she struck out 60 of the 133 batters she faced, and allowed only 19 hits and 4 runs scored. So far this season the senior owns a .79 ERA and has held opposing hitters to a .132 batting average.  Her efforts have helped the Wolves get off to a 18-0 start this season.

Conrad is the first representative from the North Region as seasons in that area get underway. The junior started her 2012 campaign off with a hot bat going 11 for 14 with a double, 3 triples, a homerun, 5 RBI and 8 runs scored.  Her .786 average and 1.500 slugging percentage on the week were tops in the region.  The Wildcats are 3-1 so far this season.

In the South Region, McKinnon had an outstanding week in the circle. The junior went 3-0 including throwing a no-hitter in a 2-0 win over West Port.  She struck out 52 and scattered 5 hits in 28 innings pitched. With this McKinnon improved her overall ERA to .25 and has held opposing teams to a .082 average on the season. Her efforts helped the Colts record to improve to 12-1.

Rounding out this week's awards from the South Central Region, Selman pitched her team to 4 victories this week, three of which were shutouts. The junior was equally impressive at the plate, hitting .500 with 9 RBI and a homrun. Selman owns an 18-1 record and .59 ERA so far this season. Her efforts helped the Hornets improve to 18-3 on the year.
