NFCA/MaxPreps HS Player of the WeekSTARKVILLE, Miss. – Senior Amy Hallett of O'Connell High School in Galveston, Texas, juniors Becky Mantel of Riverside-Brookfield High School in Riverside, Ill., Amy Montag of Madison High School in San Diego, Calif., Nicole Wickham of Greenville High School in Greenville, NY, and freshman Tylan Tripplett of Draughn High School in Valdese, N.C. have all been named as the High School Players of the Week for their respective regions by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for games played through May 16, 2011. 

In the South Central Region, Hallet threw a complete game no-hitter against Prince of Peace, striking out 12. In that game she also helped her cause at the plate going 3 for 4 with a double, home run and 2 RBI, raising her season average to .596.  The senior went 3-0 on the week in the circle helping the Buccaneers improve 12-1 in conference and 17-3-0 overall. The senior is 11-2 on the season, and so far owns 1.04 ERA while holding opponents to a .093 batting average.

Representing the North Region, Mantel went 6 for 10 this week with 4 home runs, 9 RBI, and 6 runs scored helping her team to two big wins over Timothy Christian.  The wins improved the Bulldogs record to 7-3 in conference and 19-7 overall.  On the season the junior is hitting .479 with 24 RBI and a .877 slugging percentage.

From the West Region, Montag was perfect at the plate in all four contests last week, going 9 for 9 with two doubles, two home runs, and 12 RBI. Her efforts helped the Warhawks improve to 14-0 in league and 25-0 overall.  Overall the junior is hitting .615 with a 1.169 slugging percentage with 52 RBI and 42 runs scored.

From the East Region, Wickham pitched a perfect game against Maple Hill striking out 19 of the 21 batters she faced. She followed up that effort with a complete game shutout in an 11-0 win over Hudson. On the season the junior right-hander is hitting .429 owns a .22 ERA. The wins this week helped the Spartans improve to 10-2 on the year.

In the South Region, freshman Tripplett racked up 33 strikeouts while yielding only 9 hits and 3 walks in 23 innings pitched last week.  At the plate she was 5 for 9 with 4 RBI.  On the year Tripplett owns a 1.16 ERA and has held opposing hitters to a .146 batting average.  Her efforts this week helped the Wildcats improve to 10-4 in conference play.
