LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The top two squads in the most recent rankings (May 7), No. 1 Mt. Hood Community College and second-ranked Clackamas Community College, each boasted a trio of selections to lead all programs as the NFCA announced the NWAACC All-American Team on Friday.
Overall, 12 student-athletes from eight different institutions reaped national accolades from the Association with No. 4 Douglas College, No. 6 Southwestern Oregon Community College, No. 7 Bellevue College, No. 8 Treasure Valley Community College, Community Colleges of Spokane and Chemeketa Community College receiving a single inclusion on the prestigious list.

The first of three Mt. Hood honorees, pitcher Kristen Crawford ranked in a deadlock for first in the NWAACC in victories (17) and second in ERA (1.51), while having tossed 10 complete games and striking out 74 over a team-high 92.2 innings of work. Joining Crawford in reaping accolades from the squad were infielders Kasidee Lemberger and Teauna Hughes. The No. 3 overall hitter by average in the Association at .519, Lemberger plated 52 runs, registered 18 doubles, a triple, six HR’s and knocked in 27. Hughes served as the major run producer for Mt. Hood, recording the fourth-most RBIs in the NWAACC (57) while batting .504 with a team-best 60 tallies, 18 doubles, two triples and 14 HR’s.
Infielder Rashaun Sells, outfielder Rachel Ray and utility player Cassidy Edwards constituted the three-player contingent from Clackamas on the All-American team. Sells hit at a .480 clip with 46 tallies, 31 extra-base hits, including 17 doubles and 11 HR’s, and the second most RBIs in the league with 64. A speedster with a squad-high 28 stolen bases, Ray rated seventh in the Association with a .482 batting average to go along with 44 runs plated and eight RBIs. Edwards contributed a .465 mark with 43 tallies, 11 extra-base knocks, 19 thefts and 27 RBIs.
Rounding out the All-Americans at the pitcher’s spot was Lindsie Scholwinski of Community Colleges of Spokane. The league’s ERA leader at a miniscule 1.34 and tied for first in strikeouts (168), she boasted a 12-5 record with 14 complete games over 120 frames of effort.
Southwestern Oregon Community College’s Nicole Cardoza was voted in as the lone catcher on the squad after batting .388 with 31 runs scored, 15 extra-base hits, including nine HR’s, and 32 RBIs.
Joining the previous inclusions from Mt. Hood and Clackamas as part of the infield contingent was Destinee Chang of Chemeketa Community College. The sophomore standout guided her squad in batting average (.477), runs scored (41), doubles (14), triples (two), HR’s (13) and RBIs (44).
Wrapping up the outfield group were Treasure Valley Community College’s Cheyenne Barger and Douglas College’s Hillary Strelau. As the most prolific hitter in the NWAACC, Barger led the Association in average (.600), HR’s (22) and RBIs (80), while Strelau trailed just behind average-wise with the second-highest mark (.584) in addition to contributing 45 tallies, six extra-base hits, 28 steals and 24 RBIs.
Last but certainly not least on the All-American team was Bellevue College’s Lauren Burchak. She wound up in the NWACC top six with a .500 batting average and 12 HR’s, while also plating 27 runs.
