LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The NFCA has chosen senior Nickie Blue of Niwot High School in Niwot, Colo., as the MaxPreps/NFCA High School Player of the Week for September 10.
The pitcher was impressive both from the circle and at the plate over September 3-9, while leading the Cougars to a perfect 6-0 week. Blue recorded a 4-0 mark with a miniscule 0.23 ERA, a save and tallied 60 strikeouts over 30 innings of work. At the dish she registered a .526 (10-for-19) batting average with a HR, three runs scored and seven RBIs.
Among her more impressive efforts during the week for the unbeaten Niwot squad (11-0) was an 18-strikeout, complete-game, 5-1 (8 inn.) triumph over Valley (Colo.), a one-hit performance with 16 K’s while topping Roosevelt (Colo.), 2-1, and an 11-strikeout effort during a complete-game, 11-1 victory over Broomfield (Colo.), while also going 3-for-4 with a run scored and three RBIs. In the only contest during the week that she didn’t start in the circle for Niwot, an 11-7 win over Widefield (Colo.), Blue was a flawless 3-for-3 at the plate with two tallies, a HR and three RBIs.
For the season Blue owns a perfect 9-0 record in the circle while hitting .588 overall with 11 runs scored, 17 RBIs, a .667 on-base percentage and a .853 slugging percentage.

The MaxPreps/NFCA High School Players of the Week will be announced on NFCA.org every Monday during the spring season, with one representative chosen from each of five separate high school regions. During the fall campaign, just a single player will be selected representing all participating regions.
