LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Chloe Wolf of North Alabama and Kindra Henze of Truman State have been selected as the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II National Player and Pitcher of the Week for March 19th, respectively.

Wolf, the reigning Gulf South Conference Player of the Week, batted a stellar .688 (11-for-16) with 11 runs scored, four extra-base hits, including a pair of HR’s, and 12 RBIs while hitting safely in each contest as UNA crushed Kentucky State and Christian Brothers over a five-game stretch by a combined total of 77-4. Easily her finest effort came during the series-opening 22-0 (5 inn.) thrashing of CBU as the Oakville, Mo., native went 3-for-4 at the dish with three tallies, two HR’s and five RBIs. For the season the 6-1 first baseman currently ranks sixth in the GSC in batting at .405 to go along with seven HR’s and a team-leading 30 RBIs.

"We had a great week and are having an awesome season so far,” Wolf said. “I couldn't have done it without my team and without my dad watching over me, especially when I step into the batter's box."

Henze helped guide Truman State to an unbeaten week over March 10-16 by registering a perfect 5-0 mark from the circle with a 0.00 ERA and 32 strikeouts over 25 innings of work. The 6-1 right-hander christened her week by twirling a complete-game, two-hit shutout over Illinois Springfield (8-0 in 5 inn.) that required just 64 total pitches. She followed that performance up with another two-hit blanking and eight strikeouts as TSU blasted former MIAA rival Lincoln, 13-0 (5 inn.). As part of a combined eight scoreless innings during a doubleheader sweep of Wisconsin-Parkside, the Palmyra, Mo., native was summoned into the contest in relief during the bottom of the seventh inning of game two facing a 5-5 deadlock. Henze coerced an inning-ending groundball to force extra frames in a contest that Truman State would eventually win 7-5 in nine frames. She currently possesses a 9-1 overall record with a miniscule 0.45 ERA, seven solo shutouts and 67 strikeouts over 62.2 innings.

“Kindra has done a very good job focusing on her strengths and using them to compete on the mound,” Truman State head coach Erin Brown said. “I’m pleased she has been recognized for her performances last week.”
