National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) today announced the twenty-eight players that represent the East and the West in the league’s first all-star series on July 13 and 14 in Oklahoma City, Okla.
The 2004 All-Star Game will feature two teams comprised of NPF’s top players fighting for geographical bragging rights and midseason supremacy. Judy Martino of the Akron Racers will coach the East All-Stars, whereas the West team will be led by Texas Thunder head coach Wayne Daigle.
The “NPF East All-Stars” will consist of standouts from the Akron Racers, New England Riptide and NY/NJ Juggernaut, while the “NPF West All-Stars” will include all-stars from the Arizona Heat, California Sunbirds and Texas Thunder. Amanda Scott (NY/NJ Juggernaut), who currently leads the league in wins with eight, will lead the East all-stars on the mound. The Juggernaut led all teams with seven players selected to play in the mid-season game. Other Juggernaut players selected to join Scott in OKC were Kellie Wilkerson, Carri Leto, Jaclyn Pasquerella, Lindsey Collins, Gina Oaks and Lyndsey Klein.
The NPF West All-Stars will consist of seven members from the Texas Thunder, with pitchers Christa Williams and Peaches James highlighting the pitching staff for the west team. Williams and Sunbird infielder Jamie Foutch will also compete in the Celebrity softball game on Sunday afternoon in Houston as a part of the MLB All-Star Festivities.
In addition to the NPF All-Star Game, the two all-star teams will take on TEAM USA in a doubleheader on Tuesday, July 13. The first game is scheduled to begin at 5pm CDT.
All three games will be available via Gametracker on NFCA.org.
