LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Senior pitcher Keilani Ricketts of the University of Oklahoma has been selected as the first Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I National Player of the Week of the 2013 season for games played over February 7-10.

Ricketts, the reigning USA Softball National Collegiate Player of the Year, helped the Sooners get off to a perfect 5-0 start at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz., by registering a 2-0 record over 14 innings of work to go along with 28 strikeouts, while allowing the opposition to hit at just a .096 clip.  At the plate she also posted a .300 batting average with a HR, three RBIs, five walks and a .533 on-base percentage.

Included among her outstanding pitching efforts were back-to-back no-hitters (she now possesses three in her career) to christen the season during victories over Pacific-12 Conference stalwarts No. 21 Stanford (6-0) and No. 5 Oregon (12-0, 5 inn.). The San Jose. Calif., native struck out 14 batters against the Cardinal, before following that performance with 10 K’s in the victory over the Ducks.  During both no-hitters, Ricketts started out the contest by striking out six of the first seven batters she faced over the opening two frames.

Next up for the Crimson & Cream is a trip to San Diego, Calif., over Feb. 15-17 for the Campbell-Cartier Classic where among the teams OU will face are No. 18 Washington and No. 24 Kentucky.
