Jacqueline GrimSTARKVILLE, Miss. – Senior Jacqueline Grim of Loyola Chicago has been named as the NFCA Division I National Player of the Week for games played March 21-27, 2011.

Grim achieved perfection at the plate last week by going 5-for-5 with five walks, two home runs, a double, five runs and four RBI. By reaching base in every plate appearance during the Ramblers’ three-game sweep of Youngstown State not only did Grim achieve the rare 1.000 batting average, but also the even rarer 1.000 on-base percentage. To finish off her unbelievable week, her three extra-base hits gave her a slugging percentage of 2.400.

The Beecher, Ill., native was also perfect as a position player last week, by not committing a single error in 18 chances at first base. Grim began the week by bookending a pair of RBIs in Loyola’s 4-2 Horizon League-opening win over the Penguins and went on to drive in the Ramblers’ opening run in each of the next two contests.

The senior currently leads her team with a .364 batting average and four homeruns. Loyola Chicago is currently 11-9 on the season and 3-0 in the Horizon League. This week, the Ramblers will step away from Horizon play to take on a pair of Big 10 opponents. On Thursday, Loyola will head north for a doubleheader with Wisconsin before traveling across town on Saturday for a doubleheader with Northwestern.
