Phoenix College (Ariz.) won four games on Saturday, including two over St. Louis-Meramec to claim the NJCAA Division II national championship.

The Bears captured their fourth national title, and first since back-to-back championships in 2000-01.

Phoenix opened the tournament with wins over Cuyahoga (Ohio) and Lansing (Mich.) before dropping a tough 1-0 decision to Wallace State-Dothan (Ala.)

The Bears rebounded to eliminate Cuyoga and Lansing before taking a 10-1 win over Wallace-Dothan to reach the title game.

In the first game, Phoenix knocked off previously unbeaten Meramec 4-0. The Bears took a hard-fought 2-1 decision in the deciding second contest.

Phoenix was led by tournament MVP Chelsea Mesa. Four other Bears were named to the All-Tournament team -- outfielder Sam Zadel, infielders janette Martinez and Juliette Martinez and battery member Rachel Schwartz.
