Pima Community College (Ariz.) won four games on Saturday, including two over Gulf Coast (Fla.) to claim the NJCAA Division I Championship.
The Aztecs were led by pitcher Veronica Ralston, the tournament's most valuable player. Pima's four wins on Saturday were all shutouts, including an exciting 1-0 win in the tournament finale.
The two wins over Gulf Coast avenged Pima's lone loss of the tournament, a 9-1 setback on Friday. From there, the Aztecs defeated Neosho County (Kan.), Indian Hills (Iowa) and top-seeded Indian River (Fla.) to reach the title game.
Ralston was joined by five teammates on the All-Tournament team -- infielder Kristina Schmallen, outfielder Kendra Palmer, utility player Kim Bower and battery members Nicki Johnson and Angela Guerra.
Pima defeated defending national champion Central Arizona 10-0 in the regional final, earning the No. 2 seed in the tournament. The Aztecs finished the season with a 70-8 record.
