Head Coach Stacy Iveson, along with her assistants at Pima Community College, Ted Farhat and Alison McCutcheon, have been named the 2004 Speedline/NFCA NJCAA Division I Coaching Staff of the Year.
Iveson led the Aztecs to an impressive 70-8 record this season, which culminated with the NJCAA Division I national championship.
Just as amazing as its final tally in the win column was Pima's path to the championship. The Aztecs began the season 4-3 before rattling off 34 consecutive victories.
Pima then downed defending champion Central Arizona by scores of 9-0 and 10-0 to capture the Region I tournament.
After winning the first two games of the national tournament in Clermont, Fla., the Aztecs were run-ruled by No. 2 Gulf Coast and sent to the loser's bracket. Pima would rebound, winning five consecutive games, including four in one day.
The Aztecs captured the title by defeating Gulf Coast twice. After taking a convincing 12-0 decision, Pima won a thrilling 1-0, eight inning affair to win the school's first national championship.
