OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Severe weather in the Oklahoma City area has caused officials to suspend play at the Women's College World Series. The elimination game between Oklahoma and Stanford was stopped in the top of the sixth inning with the Sooners holding on to a 2-1 lead.
The game will resume at 9 a.m., with the matchup between LSU and Florida State scheduled to begin 28 minutes following. Times for games already scheduled for Saturday have not been determined.
Tornadic activity has been spotted west of Hall of Fame Stadium, which is located in North Central Oklahoma City near the intersections of Interstates 35 and 44.
Play was last suspended at thew WCWS in 2002, when Arizona defeated Arizona State 1-0 in eight innings.
