RALEIGH, N.C. -- No. 1 seed Rutgers-Camden scored two runs on a Heather Taylor double in the sixth to hold off No. 8 seed Ramapo in Game of the NCAA Division III national tournament in Raleight, N.C.
Ramapo opened the scoring in the top of the third when designated player Becky Pollak scored Ginny O'Brien, who had doubled to lead off the inning.
Alaina Giles led off the Rutgers-Camden third with a walk and then scored on a misplay of a Marissa Van Cleef single at first base by Ramapo.
After battling through two innings of scoreless play, Rutgers-Camden took the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth. Megan Farrell singled to right to lead off the inning and advanced to second on a groundout to the pitcher. After an Amber Parker walk, pinch hitter Heather Taylor doubled to left-center to score Farrell and Walker.
Michelle Schlichtig held off a Ramapo threat in the top of the seventh for the Rutgers-Camden win.
Rutgers-Camden improved to 44-5 on the season and will face the winner of the Coe/Ithaca game tomorrow at 4 p.m. Ramapo (36-12) will face the loser in an 11 a.m. elimination game.
