STARKVILLE, Miss. - Ending a record streak of 17 straight polls by previous No. 1 Linfield, Luther now sits atop the NFCA Top 25 Poll, the association has announced. The Norse received three of eight first place votes after a 4-0 start, and with No. 4 Linfield losing both ends of a Northwest Conference doubleheader to No. 7 Pacific Lutheran, Luther jumped the spot up to No. 1.

There was a lot of shake-up throughout the poll, as No. 2 Emory, at 16-1, also took advantage of the Linfield fall to jump two spots. Still untested Eastern Connecticut remains at No. 3 and opens March 19, while 12-2 Linfield is now at No. 4. Coe, at 11-1, rounds out the top five, followed by 2-0 DePauw.

Pacific Lutheran, while 13-5 overall, has lost just one game to a Division III opponent, and used the two come-from-behind victories to go from unranked to No. 7. Texas-Tyler, off to a 10-2 start, drops three to No. 8, while Central jumps four to No. 9. Redlands, at 14-4, rounds out the top 10.
