RALEIGH, N.C. -- Rutgers-Camden took advantage of three Coe mistakes to score five runs and is now just one game away from the championship game of the Division III national tournament.
The Coe errors in combination with strong pitching from Rutgers-Camden first-team all-American Michelle Schlichtig never allowed the Kohawks to make a serious threat.
Rutgers-Camden scored the only run it would need in the fourth after Schlichtig lead off the inning with a walk and eventually scored on the first Kohawk error.
The top of the sixth proved to provide insurance runs for the Scarlet Raptors; again, fueled by Coe errors. Megan Farrell scored Autumn Millett and Schlichtig on an infield error; Millett had reached on an error herself. Farrell would score herself on a Mo Baney single.
Schlichtig finished two for two with two runs scored at the plate, while she struck out six in her complete game shutout.
Rutgers-Camden advances to face the winner of St. Thomas/Muskingum tomorrow at 5 p.m., while Coe will face Linfield in an elimination game at 2:30 p.m.
