Laurel Sagartz of Wasington University in St. Louis and St. Thomas (Minn.) junior Michelle Wong were named Louisville Slugger/NFCA co-National Players of the Week for the week of Apr. 12-18.
Sagartz, a freshman, picked up wins over Millikin and Chicago while earning the save in a victory over eighth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan. In 22 innings, she allowed just a single run and two walks while striking out 30 to help lead the third-ranked Bears to a 30-1 mark on the year.
Sagartz is 12-0 this season with a 0.26 earned run average in 80.0 innings pitched. She has registered 93 strikeouts to just 11 walks.
Wong led 11th-ranked St. Thomas to a 6-0 week, hitting .652 with eight RBIs and nine runs. She hit a double and two home runs, and she was a perfect 7-for-7 in stolen bases.
Wong has helped the Tommies to a 28-4 record, including 23 consecutive victories, with a hitting streak that spans the last 10 games and 17 of the team's last 18 contests.
