Rains blanketed the Columbus, Ga., area Saturday, forcing the cancellation of the day’s action at the NFCA Leadoff Classic.
The rain should be cleared of the area by early Sunday morning, so the schedule for Sunday’s game has been revised with two different formats. The association will determine which format will be used at 7 a.m. EST.
The first format guarantees each team would play two games, with play taking place on all eight fields at the South Commons Stadium and Complex.
The first session of that format would take place at 10 a.m. EST, with games following at Noon and 2 p.m. EST. Michigan and Georgia Tech would close out the tournament with a meeting at 4 p.m. in the stadium.
The optional format would give each team one game, with the opponent being the originally scheduled foe from Saturday’s pool play conclusion that was washed out. Games would take place on six fields, with first pitch for this format scheduled for 11 a.m. EST. The final session would be scheduled for a 1 p.m. EST start.
