University of Tennessee shortstop Lindsay Schutzler has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 13-19, the association announced Wednesday morning.
Schutzler helped the Lady Vols to the Louisville Slugger Desert Classic in Las Vegas, Nev., by hitting .733 (11-for-15) with a double, triple, six RBIs and nine runs scored.
She posted a .933 slugging percentage with a .800 on-base percentage, and she capped the tournament with a 4-for-4, four RBI plate performance against Kansas, and a 3-for-5 outing against Hawaii.
Schutzler and the Lady Vols moved to 8-0 on the season with the tournament win and moved to No. 2 in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll heading into this week’s NFCA Leadoff Classic.
