Twelve players were named to the inaugural Greek Olympic Softball Team following tryouts in Plant City, Florida. The tryouts, which included both classroom and on-field sessions, took place August 21-25 on the grounds of the ISF world headquarters.

Thirty-two players of Greek descent were invited to the tryout -- 29 from the U.S., two from Canada and one from Australia. In late September, a tryout will be held in Athens for Greek nationals and those players selected will be added to the 12 selected from the North American tryout. After the Greek National Team is formed, they will conduct their first training session January 2-8, 2003, in Tempe, Arizona. Arizona State head coach Linda Wells was recently named as head coach of the Greek National Team.
