Southern Illinois pitcher Cassidy Scoggins has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I National Player of the Week for the week of Apr. 10-16, the association announced Wednesday.
Scoggins went 5-0 in the circle for the 25th-ranked Salukis, not allowing a run over 28 innings while striking out 36 with one walk.
Opponents hit just .132 against the junior from Owasso, Okla., last week as she hurled three complete-game shutouts and won two more decisions in relief.
Against Indiana State, Scoggins struck out 12, one shy of her career high, as she reached double-digit strikeouts for the fifth time of the season.
The perfect week moved her to 22-6 on the season while her ERA dipped to a Missouri Valley Conference-best 0.89.
