Stacey Nuveman is the recipient of the inaugural USA Softball Collegiate Athlete of the Year award, it was announced by the Amateur Softball Association. A formal presentation of the award will take place at the ASA National Council Meeting in November.

Nuveman, who completed her senior year at UCLA, hit 20 home runs and led the nation with a .529 batting average. She became the NCAA career home run leader with 90 home runs and also set single-season and career slugging percentage records.

Nuveman was one of three finalists for the award, joining UCLA shortstop Natasha Watley and Arizona pitcher Jennie Finch. Last week, Finch won the Honda Award for softball for the second consecutive year.
