Texas A&M senior P/1B Megan Gibson has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I National Player of the Week for the week ending April 13, it was announced on Tuesday.

Gibson (Spring, Texas) continued her dominance in the circle, registering all three of the Aggies’ wins last week. The two-time All-American tossed 21 innings over three complete games, recording her 23rd, 24th and 25th consecutive victories this season. Gibson had 30 strikeouts on the week including 18 in two games against then-No. 7 Oklahoma. She had just four walks and scattered nine hits over the three games.

Gibson earned her 11th shutout of the season on Sunday in A&M’s 1-0 win over OU. Against rival Texas on Wednesday, Gibson scattered three hits and struck out 12 while not allowing a walk. Saturday’s win over the Sooners was a 4-2 victory for Texas A&M with Gibson striking out 11 in the win.

Gibson’s streak of consecutive wins, which dates back to May 20, 2007, now ranks in the NCAA’s top-10 for consecutive pitching victories. The senior leads the Big 12 in wins (25), walks (39) doubles (12), shutouts (11), innings pitched (171) and complete games (24) while ranking second in strikeouts (192) and opponents batting average (.166).
