Virginia Tech pitcher Angela Tincher has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week for the week ending Mar. 25, the association announced Wednesday.

Tincher helped Virginia Tech to an ACC series victory over Florida State, leading the Hokies to a pair of 1-0 wins.

The Eagle Rock, Va., native tossed an eight-inning perfect game, the first such feat in school history, striking out 18 of the 24 hitters she faced in the win.

She followed that victory on Sunday with another 1-0 triumph in which she struck out 11 while having a no-hitter broken up with a seventh-inning infield single.

For the weekend, Tincher pitched 15 innings of shutout softball, allowing just a single hit while striking out 29 and walking one.

The stellar weekend moved her to 20-3 on the year with a 0.43 ERA. She has struck out 330 in 155 innings. She has thrown a pair of no-hitters on the year, and the perfect game Saturday was her third of the year.
