View the NFCA's Simulated RPI
Already in the top spot in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll, UCLA moved ahead of Arizona into the No. 1 slot in this week’s NFCA Simulated Ratings Percentage (RPI) as compiled by mathematician Warren Nolan.
Arizona, who sits on top in the strength of schedule, dropped to second in this week’s RPI after falling to the Bruins last week. The two Pac-10 squads lead a group of four teams from the league (No. 5 Arizona State and No. 6 Oregon State the others) that rank in the RPI’s top 10.
Texas stayed at No. 3 in this week’s ratings, while Alabama sits in fourth. The Crimson Tide join No. 8 Tennessee and No. 10 Georgia as the trio of SEC squads in the top 10.
The Big Ten has garnered two places in the top 10, with Northwestern in seventh and Michigan in ninth.
The Pac-10 also paces the conference ratings, while the SEC follows along with the ACC, Big 12 and Big Ten.
With the Wildcats topping the strength of schedule, the top four slots belong to Pac-10 teams as UCLA comes in second followed immediately by Oregon and Washington. Two more squads are in the top 10, with Arizona State at sixth and Oregon State in ninth.
Michigan holds the fifth-toughest schedule in the nation, while Northwestern holds seventh. Alabama and Texas sit in eighth and 10th, respectively, in the strength of schedule.
