Surrey, B.C., Canada -- USA Blue improved to 2-0 at the Canada Cup with a 9-1 win over the Czech Republic Sunday afternoon.
Jarrah Myers (Carbondale, KS) and Nina Lindenberg (Anaheim Hills, CA) each had home runs, as the seasoned U.S. offense took advantage of inexperienced Czech pitching. Blue scored three runs in bottom of the first, one run in the second and third innings and piled on four in the bottom of the fourth to close out the game via the mercy-rule. The Czech Republic scored its run in the top of the second, when Eliska Pojenova doubled and later scored on two wild pitches from U.S. starter Courtney Dale (Fresno, CA). Dale got the win, working four innings before giving way to Tia Bollinger (Santa Ana, CA) for the final frame. Dale gave up four hits and one earned run, striking out three. Bollinger struck out two during her one hitless inning of relief. For more information, updated statistics and other Canaca Cup information, click here.
