LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After scoring the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning against Averett on Wednesday, Virginia Wesleyan (8-2) freshman outfielder Courtney Bogan earned a nod in the starting lineup for the remainder of the week, leading to a 10-for-15 performance at the plate with nine runs, six RBI, one double, three triples, six steals and one home run as well as Louisville Slugger/NFCA DIII National Player of the Week honors.
Bogan helped lead the Marlins to a 6-0 week with two victories against Averett (5-0 and 3-2), a 9-0 victory against Neumann University, 9-1 triumphs against Bethany College and Rutgers-Camden and a 7-3 win against Old Westbury.
Up next for Bogan and the Marlins is the Sea Gull Invitational, which features games against Frostburg State, Geneseo State, Washington & Jefferson and Baruch.
